Scholarships

The Osceola County Community Foundation (OCCF) is dedicated to making Osceola County a better place in which to live and work by enhancing the quality of life and building a strong community spirit. Since 1991, it has become a substantial organization, offering an ideal way for citizens to make a lasting contribution through will bequests, memorial gifts or donations. These funds remain a part of permanent source of income which will address present and future community needs.

Geraldine L. Anderson Scholarship

One (1) $500 renewable scholarship award to a graduating senior of Reed City High School. Interviews may be required.

Criteria is as follows:

 

*Applicant shall attend an accredited two or four-year college     

or university




Babb Family Scholarship

One (1) $1,000 non-renewable scholarship to a graduating high school senior of an Osceola County high school. Interviews may be required. Criteria are as follows:

 

*  Demonstrated academic success, ranking among the top 20% of his/her class

*  Participation in community and significant volunteer service

*  Involvement in extracurricular activities such as school, church and the community

*  Financial need is not a criterion




Business & Professional Women’s Scholarship

One (1) $500 non-renewable scholarship to a female Osceola County high school graduate. Interviews may be required.

Criteria are as follows:

           

*  Demonstrated academic success, ranking among the top 20% of her class

*  Participation in the community and significant volunteer service.

*  Involvement in extracurricular activities such as school, church and the community

*  Financial need is not a criterion




Amy Hinkley Gregory Scholarship

One (1) $500 non-renewable scholarship to a graduating senior of Evart High School. Interviews may be required.

Criteria is as follows:

 

*  Excel in the visual arts field




Industrial Scholarship

One (1) $500 non-renewable scholarship to a graduating high school senior of an Osceola County high school. Interviews may be required.

Criteria are as follows:

 

*  Demonstrated academic success, ranking among the top 20% of his/her class

*  Participation in community and significant volunteer service

*  Involvement in extracurricular activities such as school, church, and community

*  Financial need is not a criterion




Rick and Cindy Johnson 4-H Scholarship

One (1) non-renewable scholarship of $1,000 awarded to a graduating senior of an Osceola County high school or a graduating senior who resides in Osceola County. Criteria are as follows:

 

*  ACT score must be listed on application (verification must be attached to application)

*  Active member of the Osceola County M.S.U. Extension 4-H

*  One (1) letter of recommendation must be attached to the application by a community member

*  Transcript must be attached to application reflecting the student’s GPA. The GPA will  not be used as a benchmark but will be considered with the other criteria.

*  Financial need is not  a criterion




Speaker Rick Johnson Scholarship

One (1) non-renewable scholarship of $500 awarded to a graduating senior of an Osceola County high school or a graduating senior who resides in Osceola County. Criteria are as follows:

 

*  ACT score must be listed on application (verification must be attached to application)

*  Participation in extra-curricular and community activities

*  One (1) letter of recommendation must be attached to the application by a community member

*  Transcript must be attached to application reflecting the student’s GPA. The GPA will not be used as a benchmark but will be considered with the other criteria.

*  Financial need is not a criterion




S.J. Martin Scholarship

One (1) $500 non-renewable scholarship to a graduate of an Osceola County high school. Interviews may be required.

Criteria are as follows:

 

*  Demonstrated academic success, ranking among the top 25% of his/her class

*  Participation in community and volunteer service, a constructive attitude, ability to relate well to others

*  Preference is given to students pursuing a degree in education

*  Preference is given to students entering their sophomore or junior year in college

* Preference is given to students who show financial need

* Demonstrated high moral character

* Highly motivated individual with drive to succeed




James F. McLachlan Scholarship

One (1) $500 non-renewable scholarship awarded to a graduating senior of Evart High School. Interviews may be required.

Criteria is as follows:

 

*  Applicant shall attend an accredited two or four-year trade school, college or university pursuing advanced trade or industrial skill.

*  Participation in school and/or community volunteer service

*  One (1) letter of recommendation must be attached to the application by a community member

*  Transcript must be attached to application reflecting the Student’s GPA. The GPA will not be used as a benchmark but will be considered with the other criteria

*  Financial need is not a criterion




Godfrey T. Norman Scholarship

One (1) $500 non-renewable scholarship to a graduate of Reed City high school. Interviews may be required.

Criteria are as follows:

 

*  Intend to pursue a degree in pre-medical, pre-dental or nursing

*  Academic achievement of 3.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale; 3.5 or higher in science courses

*  History of service to community through school, church or other volunteer activities

*  Three (3) letters of recommendation, one (1) which must be from a science teacher




John and Mable Outen Scholarship Fund

Four (4) $1,000 non-renewable scholarships to four Osceola County high school graduates. Interviews may be required.

Criteria are as follows:

 

*  Demonstrated academic success, ranking among the top 20% of his/her class

*  Participation in community and significant volunteer service

*  Involvement in extracurricular activities: school, church and community

*  Financial need is not a criterion

*  Donor recommends that the student’s academic success, and their desire and potential to succeed be considered. At no time shall this scholarship be based on athletic success.




Osceola Foundation FSU Scholarship

Up to four (4) $1,000 non-renewable scholarships to students (transfer students, adult students or graduating high school seniors) starting their first full year at Ferris State University.

Interviews may be required.

Criteria are as follows:

 

*  Student must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 to apply




Osceola Foundation Scholarship

One (1) $500 non-renewable scholarship to a graduating high school senior of either an Osceola County high school or a home schooled student.  Interviews may be required.

Criteria are as follows:

 

*  ACT score must be listed on application (verification of score must be attached to application.)          

*  Participation in school and/or community services

*  One (1) letter of recommendation must be attached to application by a community member

*  Transcript must be attached to application reflecting the student’s GPA.  The GPA will not be used as a benchmark but will be considered with the other criteria

*  Financial need is not a criterion




Dave Porteous Scholarship

Two (2) $1,500 non-renewable scholarships to two Osceola County high school graduates. Interviews may be required.

Criteria are as follows:

 

*  Recipients must attend Michigan State University

*  Demonstrated academic success, ranking among the top 20% of his/her class

*  Participation in community and significant volunteer service

*  Involvement in extracurricular activities: school, church and community

*  Financial need is not a criterion




Reed City Rotary Scholarship

One (1) $1,000 non-renewable scholarship to a graduating high school senior of an Osceola County high school. Interviews may be required.

Criteria are as follows:

 

*  Demonstrated academic success, ranking among the top 20% of his/her class

*  Participation in community and significant volunteer service

*  Involvement in extracurricular activities: school, church and community
